Choosing a gym can feel like a major decision, with price, equipment, amenities, and overall vibe all coming into play. Do you want more organized classes, like Orangetheory Fitness or Club Pilates? Or would you rather roam free and do your own workout in a bigger commercial gym? Depending on what you're looking for, 24 Hour Fitness might be the right fit for you. Here's what to know about 24 Hour Fitness pricing before signing up for a membership.

24 Hour Fitness is a big box gym with just under 300 locations in 11 different states across the country, with a majority of locations in California. As the name suggests, some locations are open for 24 hours seven days a week, which is a selling point if you have a busy schedule, prefer hitting the gym later at night, or are a super early riser who appreciates an empty gym. Depending on the club, one-on-one personal training, group training, or specialty classes may be available for an added fee.

If your budget is a major deciding factor in your gym search, you may be wondering exactly how much a membership costs and what it includes. Because specific pricing isn't readily available on the 24 Hour Fitness website, here's a quick guide to how much 24 Hour Fitness costs.

How Much Does 24 Hour Fitness Cost?

24 Hour Fitness membership pricing varies by location. The easiest way to find out the exact cost is to type your zip code into the "Find a Gym" feature on the company's site, where you can select your nearest gym and see the exact pricing for that location. You also have the option to call, email, or chat with someone about pricing IRL. Take note, there may be certain promotional offers available, depending on the season or time of year.

24 Hour Fitness declined to provide PS with an exact range or average of its membership prices, but you can expect to see costs from $10 to $60 per month, often with an additional annual fee of $25 to $50. If you opt to pay for a year upfront rather than paying each month, your overall cost will be lower. You can also expect lower monthly payments if you make a 12-month commitment, according to the 24 Hour Fitness website.

What's Included in a 24 Hour Fitness Membership?

24 Hour Fitness has three different membership tiers ($10-$60): — Silver, National, and Platinum — all of which have different prices. The membership options listed below are all for a monthly membership, but you may be able to lock in a lower rate if you pay a lump sum annually instead, depending on location. The Silver option is not available at all destinations, so check your closest 24 Hour Fitness to be sure.

Membership Options

  • Silver Membership ($10-30 a month, depending on location): The most basic and least expensive, a Silver membership gives you access to a single gym location, along with access to the free weights, cardio equipment, strength training machines, TRX suspension, and Olympic training rigs.
  • National Membership ($20-$45 a month or higher, depending on location): A slightly pricier option, the National membership gives members everything included in the Silver membership along with access to all the 24 Hour Fitness gyms within their region. These members get access to on-demand workouts through the brand's 24GO app plus plenty of in-person workout classes like Zumba, cycling, yoga, Pilates, and HIIT. The National membership also comes with premium amenities like saunas and steam rooms (in locations that have them). And while the membership tier is a little more expensive, be sure to ask about whether you can net a discount by paying annually.
  • Platinum Membership ($40-$60 a month, depending on location): This membership is the most expensive route, and it allows you to visit all 24 Hour Fitness gyms nationwide. It also includes two buddy passes, allowing you to work out with a friend. People on Reddit say they pay anywhere from $30 to $49 a month for this membership, but it appears some locations charge upwards of $60 a month. Ultimately, the exact pricing depends on where you are or the precise location of the club. For more information, contact your local club to talk through membership options, classes offered and other amenities.

If you're still on the fence about 24 Hour Fitness, you can always try it out with a free three-day pass. That way, you can get a sense of the gym's equipment, see how crowded it gets at peak times, and decide if it's worth the cost of a membership. Check out their special offers page, too — you might just snag a deal.
